DAP Hosts Listen. Talk. Learn Sessions on Responding to White Supremacy in St. Louis and Columbia, MO

Aug 18, 2017

Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP)’s Listen. Talk. Learn’s are intended to help strengthen our community’s ability to dialogue about race relations by facilitating important and difficult discussions on race, unconscious bias, and our lived experiences. Our hope is that by talking to one another and learning more about communities we have limited exposure to, we will be more effective allies in the ongoing work of racial justice.

For 16 years, DAP has worked alongside you towards a more inclusive St. Louis region and beyond. We have been doing the same in our Columbia community since the Spring of 2015. Over that time, much has changed about our social landscape. The events in Charlottesville this past weekend, and the President’s comments, offer a unique opportunity for us to respond unequivocally and directly to the hatred of white supremacy and its advocates.

We’re offering our signature Listen. Talk. Learn sessions with updated content to provide a forum to process recent events, and to equip us to respond to hatred in bold and constructive ways. Attendees will leave the session having been able to:

• Trace the recent surge in the influence of white supremacist ideology in the United States

• Construct responses to this ideology on both a personal and a systemic level
