Though we would never encourage anyone to risk their health and well-being, we applaud Mizzou graduate student, Jonathan Butler’s commitment to the cause of holding leadership accountable to address the injustices being experienced daily by students of color on the University of Missouri – Columbia campus. We understand that barriers to inclusion and equity are not always easy to grapple with and we believe that honest and productive dialogue is the first step to lasting and systemic change. Diversity Awareness Partnership is committed to continuing to be a resource to facilitate this important dialogue as the Columbia community, like many communities across our country begin to take steps toward inclusion and equity.
We must continue to listen to one another, talk to one another, and learn with and from one another if we want to move forward.
