The Diverse-City art competition offers students the opportunity to present their independent understanding and awareness of diversity and inclusion within their communities and school. Students will be able to use their creative abilities and talents to express their own insight of diversity and inclusion in the Columbia Community.

All students grades Kindergarten to 12th grade residing in Columbia community. Students will compete in the following categories: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade.
Artists’ submissions can include watercolors, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two-dimensional, sculptures, mixed media, computer-generated and digital pieces (including animation, video and motion work). Two-dimensional artwork will be no longer than 24 inches by 30 inches. Students must also fill out an application with their name, school, contact information and description of their artwork submission.
Submissions: February 1 – April 13
A panel of judges will evaluate entries on the basis of theme interpretation, composition, and originality. The artist’ names and schools are kept confidential until judging is complete. Competition winner’s artwork will be featured at Columbia’s Annual Art in the Park Festival in June as well as a traveling exhibit.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category.
